Given that the USS Ford and HMS Queen Elizabeth are the lead ships in their class while the 001A is based on the Liaoning even if it may be a modified design.
Fair enough, I suppose a fairer comparison would be a Nimitz class carrier, such as USS Ronald Reagan, where keel was laid down in February 1998 and whose island was lifted onto the ship in November 2000, with the ship being launched in July 2003.
Of course, there are still differences: USS Ronald Reagan was the 9th ship of its class and I'm sure Newport News would have been quite familiar with the class' construction having built many supercarriers before, whereas this is DL (and China's) first construction of a carrier from the keel up despite being based on an existing design. But OTOH the Nimitz class is also a larger and more complex ship than 001A...
All things considered, I think the pace of construction of 001A that we can see is still quite impressive, especially given it is not only DL's first carrier built from scratch but China's first carrier built from scratch as well.
