Maybe we will see some action, can anyone confirm the position of the liaoning?
Not the kind of action that article is referring to.
From the article:
Article said:
Russian media followed that up by quoting Igor Morozov, a member of the Russian Federation Committee on International Affairs, confirming Chinese aircraft carrier, Lianoning, and a guided missile cruiser were heading to the area, and adding Chinese military advisers were already in the region.
Mr Morozov said: "It is known that China has joined our military operation in Syria.
"The Chinese cruiser has already entered the Mediterranean, followed by its aircraft carrier."
These reports have not been verified by China and satellite images show the Syrian port of Tartus, currently empty.
This has been proven false.
The Liaoning is not in the Med. It has never been in the Med or anywhere near it.
There is no Chinese cruiser is in the Med...the Chinese do not even have a cruiser.
Chinese destroyers have been in the Med, but never with the Liaoning.
The Liaoning has not ever even fielded a complete air wing on the carrier.
We have seen them test with a maximum of five J-15s. Although the Liaoning can carry 20 or more J-15s, only 15 J-154s have been built to date.
So, the action we can expect to see from the PLAN with the Liaoning is hopefully, more training exercises. More J-15s operating off of her in those training exercise.
All of that...at this time...will occur most probably in the South or East China Sea...or somewhere in the Western Pacific.
We look forward to the day that the PLAN takes her on some kind of goodwill trip to the Atlantic, Med, etc.
As to her doing combat operations in the Med against Syria...it is very highly unlikely and certainly has not occurred yet.
Either that news outlet, or Mr. Morozov are very sadly...and completely...mistaken.
