Btw, I expect that the pictures which feature planes and ships of other nation's navies are meant to show that the technology being displayed is of the "same type" as those deployed by those other navies...
The EM catapult obviously being similar technology to EMALS aboard the Ford class which launches the F-35C in the picture, and the superconducting motor being applicable on the various IEPS ships including zumwalt, daring, queen Elizabeth and mistral classes of ships...

Does anyone know what the context of this display is? Whose stand it is, where it is being shown?

These pictures are from 17th session of the China Internaional Industry Fair on Nov-3-2015 in Shanghai. According to lonsliv from CJDBY, the company's name is ShangHai Superconductor technology Co.

It's not related to the government EMALS project by the Ma team at all. It's just one of the Shanghai University and private sector company's project. And they are using hot topic names like carrier, EMALS etc to get free advertising and create some news for the project and company.

I think we will see some kind of steam catapult model release to the public before we actually see EMALS model from the official source. As the EMALS are still doing testing while Steam catapult development is already complete.

Now I'm finally convinced that this is an Aircraft Carrier, not just some giant tanker or cargo carrier. The empty hangar space is the best proof.

IMHO, AT13, you are clearly being facetious and dripping with sarcasm. here.

If I am wrong, I apologize in advance.

But in case I am not, let me say this.

Verum is a relatively new member of SD, and he simply indicated that he finally decided himself that it was a carrier.

I say...good for him.

I say to Verum...Thanks for sharing your opinion

We want to encourage people to share their sincere opinions.

We want to encourage them to ask sincere questions.

We want to encourage them to be a sincere, contributing part of the community here at SD.

We want to try and help people who are just learning or starting out.

Now, if someone is here to attack...to belittle...to be pure fan-boys or to push an ideological, political, or nationalistic agenda, that woukld be something different, and something Modertors should be made aware of.

But I did not see any of that in Verum's post.

So let's not make fun of, belittle or criticize people just because they are new, or just learning about things.

He probably has a lot to learn, as I had when I came here first. And you never stop learning as long as you live.

I think nobody should feel offended that others disagree, nor "celebrate" when others "surrender".
We talk about facts, logical analysis and make our own conclusions, not personal "win" or "loose".
But we can be a little teasing, joking I think, it's fun if one has the capacity for it.
