These pics are illustrative of some very important and very hopeful things.

Despite all else, the PLAN and the PRC allowing US Naval officers this type of visit onto the Liaon ing speaks volumes.

Very glad to see this.

The US has had PLAN officers on its vessels as well and that type of exchange, and the lines of communication further up the chain that have to be in place to make it happen are, as I say, very hopeful things indeed.

This is illustrative of "Honor", the USN and PLAN both honor the other, and give due respect, it is indeed hopeful that both sides conduct these visits of honored "guests". Men sharing with Men, officers, and Gentlemen! I can assure you that these exchanges are very polite, and very open.

Seeing as this entire discussion is so focused on the hangar module being assembled, let's go back a couple of weeks and remember Jaybird's post #4342, where this picture shows an obvious hangar module of 001A, and is compared to a hangar module of the QE class.

The hangar module in the picture in post #4342 corresponds quite closely to the general dimensions of the module being assembled in the latest pictures. They may not be the exact same module, but are very similar.

The pic above is of the QE carrier hanger module...along the area of the island. Nothing new there for me...it was posted long ago. And nothing more convincing to me about the other module at this point.

I have always indicated that my position is not that it is definitely not the carrier or not that it is definitely not a hanger. Simply that I am not willing to confirm it at this point.

As soon as I personally feel it is...I will say so from my perspective. Or should I feel at some point that it is definitely not...I will do the same.

I am simply not ready to do that. At this point I probably lean more to it being a carrier than not...which I believe I said some time before I went to Houston. But I am not ready to say it definitively yet. There are still some doubts which myself, popeye and others have raised.

As it is, with respect to this hanger module...everyone has said their peace. We are now rehashing the old posts.

With everything that has been said...at this point it is only going to rehash things and this turn into a meaningless argument and continue to dominate the thread.

Let's let it rest and go on with other PLAN CV news. When more details come out than what we already have concerning it, we can revisit it.

Howdy boyz! Here's something new..

And NO I do not know where the USN officers are attached or what was the full reason for the visit.

October 19 afternoon, the delegation of 27 United States Navy officers , visited the PLAN aircraft carrier, Liaoning, They observed the crew in training including medical & living spaces. And discussed "aviation development strategy".

I am glad to see this and recognize that a lot of people up very high in the chain of command on noth sides had to agree to allow this...and that's a good thing.

Well, I see two US Navy captains (colonels), and that seems old for their first independent commands.

Huh? How old is old?.. See above answer...much is lost in the translation..

That's very misleading caption bd.

Actually, it looks like Liaoning carrier is inside Syrian port of Tartus and those are Syrian navy officers and not USN.

You can clearly see these guys are Syrian navy officers with the HD pic here. :p </sarcasm>
