Not sure if you can consider this good news or bad news.... Some people in Chinese forum saying they are building a new fence around Jiannan shipyard. Don't know how tall it will be, but we might not be able to see early pictures of 055 and 002 modules being built.

You can't look inside the shipyard and take pictures from passing boats anymore. But at least that means something important is up at Jiangnan shipyard?;)

It'll have to be very tall to be of any effective measures, because even a DDG is quite big to really hide it; besides, picture and truth comes hand in hand, so without pictural prove that such work is taking place, don't count on it.

If such a fence is ever built it will be placed in such place and manner as to hide the internal structure and sensitive parts of fabricated module of the ship. You cannot hide totally a completed or half completed large ship like an aircraft carrier.

So IMO they will build a security fence and a wall around the particular dry dock instead of the whole shipyard, as well as some new large mobile buildings to cover top view of the dry dock and fabricated modules.

I bet we will still be able to observe the progress of the ship being built, though not in details.

This model was shown before the 2008 World Expo in Shanghai. It shows way back then the relocating JNCX shipyard has been designed for construction of large aircraft carrier as well as large DDG like 055.

We can deduced that new aircraft carriers and type 055 DDGs must have been in the planning stage at that time.

Agree. It will be difficult to cover the whole shipyard. But I think if they build a relatively high fence around the blue colored area as an example here will block people from peeping inside or taken photos until the hull is built up to the bridge section.
