So far we have only seen 552, 553 and 554 land on the Liaoning. I hope we get to see 555 and 556 and perhabs even 551 land on the Liaoning as well.
If those persons over there at BRW really knew Jeff Head they would not be calling him a racist...unbelievable.
What is BRW?
PE or Kwag. What are those pylon looking things on the sides of a carriers flight deck and what are they used for.
Just want to clarify, that photo of the "554" with a pair of WS-10A was taken before that plane participated in the current carrier landing trial isn't it?
Jovian
Well, I do not want to speak for BIB, but some of the posters on the PLAN Carrier thread asked about these markers on the ski jump. You can see the one raised there forward of and to the left of the firefighting equipment, and then several there on the starboard side of the ski-jump.what pylons on the flight deck? there are no pylon the flight deck.
Are you talking about these?
If so they are call whip antennas.. mainly for MF and HF radio transmissions. They are lowered during flight operations for obvious reasons!!!
Oh I see, you are talking about the horizontal support right on the starboard bow. That does not raise. It may fold back against the hull, though I have not seen it in that position. If holds some sensors, lights, cameras, and other equipment out from the bow there. To Jeff and Kwag
There it is its in a lowered position in the three photos in Jeffs previous post in front of the two raised whip atennaes. Im sure I have seen it also raised. In its lowered position it looks like one of those barrier gates.

I would still like to know what purpose those small raised sqaaure like items are.
