They know that, they have been very anxious since TSMC started building factories in the United States. They just don't want to face the fact that they were betrayed

In fact, some people have suggested that when a war breaks out, it will be the US military, not the PLA, that will bomb TSMC. This will prevent China from obtaining chip technology, while increasing the value of the technology held by the United States.

Only the stupidest Taiwanese still think TSMC is still the "national guardian mountain"

Do you really not understand or are you deceiving yourself like the Taiwanese?

Once a war breaks out, Taiwan's chip supply chain will inevitably be completely destroyed, and the impact on the global chip market has already occurred.

Since the damage has already been done, it only takes a few JDAMs, and the entire Western world will rely on the United States' TSMC instead of Taiwan's TSMC. Regardless of whether the PLA can ultimately win. There is no simpler and more profitable business than this

Scarcity makes things valuable

By the time they fail to "Save" Taiwan, it'll be already too late to reliably bomb TSMC (in regards to stopping China from getting chip tech).
They might succeed in a getting few fits, but that's the thing, US and their dogs need to destroy every single one, while China only truly needs one and the Chinese industry will do the rest (the CPC would prefer TSMC wholly intact, but that's the best scenario).

IMO with how things are with the US, your comment might just happen (in regard to them trying to destroy TSMC after a "Taiwan Defence" failure not them actually succeeding). And honestly, all the better for China: It means more US equipment is thrown into the grinder, better yet, against their "Allies" (not even counting the fact they have already been/or being slaughtered by the PLA) and best gift of all a blow against the rabid faith of their (remaining) puppets that still came to the US' aid after...well whatever the hell Trump thinks he's doing.

The thing special about TSMC are the personnel and know how. Just because you have the gear doesn’t necessarily mean you can use it.

TSMC equipment is all western. Taiwan doesn't make any semiconductor equipment at all. All their lithography tools are just very expensive and heavy paperweights without the western supply chain. There is no substitute for self innovation.

The processes are TSMC but those aren't anything physical, they're documents on a computer and habits in people's heads that can be physically deleted.

I want to make it clear that I do make frequent visits to the Semiconductor thread. My comment is more about humouring Votran's honestly shallow take. (By the time the US loses or is about to in an AR scenario, it'll be too late to destroy TSMC).

Documents and info can be obtained in much more convenient and covert means. Relevant people can be persuaded to defect or simply taken. With Taiwan's current situation, I would honestly be surprised if there wouldn't be TSMC personnel "disappearing" or documents swiped before or during AR.

What's left for the US to touch and mess with (and something China can't yoink w/o AR) would obviously be machinery. It doesn't matter if they need western supply chains, there's always stuff to learn, i.e. reverse engineering, again if the US wants to stop that they need to make sure every last one is dealt with.
