The People's Liberation Army's simulated strikes on natural gas tanks have caused Taiwanese to worry about energy issues
If the CCP blockades Taiwan, how long can Taiwan's energy supply last? Scholars have given an answer.
LNG ships were unable to enter the port as scheduled due to military exercises. In the future, if the PLA imposes a blockade on Taiwan, how long can Taiwan's energy supply last?
Wu Da-ren, a professor in the Department of Economics at National Central University, stated that Taiwan's natural gas reserves last about seven days in the summer and up to 14 days on regular days. If a blockade by mainland China lasts longer than the storage period, Taiwan faces the risk of running out of gas. If the blockade extends beyond a month, the situation would become extremely serious. Therefore, if natural gas replaces coal without a simultaneous increase in transportation and storage capacity, it will not contribute to maintaining a safe reserve level.
