Why stop there? Canberra should actually proceed with breaking off diplomatic relations with Beijing and establish one with Taipei. Let's see what their steel and coal industries would throw at their faces.

But then, we all know that the former penal colony of the expired British Empire a.k.a. Airfield #2 isn't even a sovereign country anyway.

The Australian government had so much trouble getting the trade relations with the PRC back on track with the new head of state and now this.
probably read too many of Gordon Chang's articles of Chinese economy collapsing and they thought that this is their chance to test the waters to see if China dares to economically retaliate.

make no mistake, that's US orchestrated. If no response, expect other vassals to proceed similarly

But can really China break the import of iron now? I don't think that's now possible even with the years of trying to find other suppliers and big downturn in steel industry. Some percents of iron imports China can retrade with others but it will be weak response like few years ago during trade war.

It will look like Trump trade war on China, nothing changed at the end.

The iron ore price dropped to like half recently. If anything I think China should stockpile it.

Another thing which makes popping the real estate bubble a smart move. The iron ore price was skyrocketing until Evergrande went belly up and construction crashed down. Evergrande filed for US bankruptcy protection in August 31, 2021.

Chinese companies have a big stake in iron mines in Guinea. This country has 8 billion tons of iron ore deposits and will be the major supplier to China.

What’s going on with this Indonesian and Australian defence pact? Have the Indonesians lost their mind? Are they going to allow AUKUS submarines through the archipelago?
Prabowo has always been suspect if you look at his background, he was educated at fort bennings and at one time even collaborated with SAS in papua
However it's too early to tell if he is a full-blown US assets like Marcos is
