Not sure if this related but the houthis just got themselves hypersonic missiles, two can play the games, if they can't control themselves in arming Taiwan, "somebody" will return the favor sooner or later
The US simply can't control itself when it comes to supporting separatism in Taiwan
Wtf why's everybody having hypersonic nowNot sure if this related but the houthis just got themselves hypersonic missiles, two can play the games, if they can't control themselves in arming Taiwan, "somebody" will return the favor sooner or later
Western media and politicians have distorted the original use of the word to include ballistic missiles. That way they can pretend they are not lesser than China in a key category of military capability.W
Wtf why's everybody having hypersonic now
You don't have to take these "wargames" too seriously. These are for PR and morale boosting purposes. How does the WSJ think that China will invade Taiwan? Let's play the CSIS Wargame with Mark Cancian!
So this is how CSIS wargames how an Armed Reunification conflict would take place in 2026. I think that this was the "tabletop wargame" that the DPP said would predict that Taiwan will win against China. Why is CSIS doing a tabletop game in 2023 or 2024? I was expecting a computer-simulation type of wargaming. Lack of budget? Or maybe Mark Cancian is a dinosaur?

How convenient that Taiwan island is broken down into honeycomb tiles for wargaming. You probably might have seen this kind of format before; in certain PC grand strategy games like Hearts of Iron. Some gamer could do a wargaming like this on his laptop at home if he wanted to. Just mod Hearts Of Iron to adjust it to modern warfare parameters, and viola!
Here, Mark assumes that the PLA is gonna land on southern Taiwan first. Because Northern Taiwan would be too "heavily defended" to land there first. The PLA should so be happy if the Pentagon agrees with this assumption.

On the naval warfare front, Mark says that the US is gonna put 2 nuclear submarines in and right outside the Taiwan Strait to sink the Chinese amphibious landing fleet, only rotating in and out of Japan to reload. Off course, putting a 10000 ton SSN in the Taiwan Strait had to be the greatest idea ever. Nevermind that the waters there are very shallow. Nevermind that the PLAN are gonna deploy dozens of ASW assets there. And how convenient it is that somehow, there are no Chinese submarines around Taiwan in 2026.

The end result according to Mark Cancian is: "A minor victory for America and its allies. Big losses on both sides, but China loses more. Taiwan remains an independent, democratic nation. The evil See-see-pee loses power in mainland China." Jai America! Jai Pineapples!
Remember this guy America, when you lose a couple of SSNs in the Taiwan Strait, and in the waters around China. Remember this guy, when Japanese bases needed to be bombarded, because he thinks that the US throwing warplanes, warships, and missiles at China from there does not justify a Chinese retaliation. Remember this guy when thousands of US sailors and airmen are sleeping with the fishes, because he thinks that the US must definitely shoot at the PLA in an AR conflict. Remember this guy when the PLA "unexpectedly" wins the land battle over Taiwan island. Definitely remember this idiot, when the CPC gets even more popular when America starts shooting at China.

YesIs this the same one where USN parked nuclear attack subs directly in Taiwan Strait?
No, I'm not taking this "wargame" seriously, but the The Wall Street Journal and DPP are.You don't have to take these "wargames" too seriously. These are for PR and morale boosting purposes.
The real wargames are hidden from public view
LOL wsj bros better outsource the strategy to twitch gamers. No, I'm not taking this "wargame" seriously, but the The Wall Street Journal and DPP are.
The more serious wargames were the ones done over the years in computer simulations where in almost all realistic outcomes, the US was defeated. That was why the US MSM had to come up with the Mark Cancian's "wargame".
