Not sure if its been posted already, but Taiwanese separatist publications are claiming that the US has already deployed around 200 troops in Taiwan as "instructors" to help train Taiwanese separatists.

If this information is true, then this is a major escalation on part of the US, today US-NATO forces may number only 200 troops, but they could keep increasing this number until they reach a sizeable occupation force in Taiwan.

In times of war if all your attention was spent watching CSG and you let a 055 sneak up on you from some unexpected direction, as 106 Yan'an appear to have done in this case would it be a disaster?
What's so disastrous about possibly 60 land attack cruise missiles with 500 kg warheads each getting free reign?

The red line technically has been crossed for around two years already. If China wants to start AR it already has plenty of legitimate reasons.
Whether it actually does boils down to readiness and risk/benefit analysis.

Considering past performances of US-trained armies, this is actually a very good news

I have a question, can Taiwan build an under mountain airbase, like in Mainland China? If they can, where is the possibility of the place they would build it? A place where they think is safe enough from Mainland onslaught if the shooting begin. Because I can't think anywhere is safe in the island, beside Okinawa and some of Pinoy airbase. That's why I think the only way to create a safe place is building a under mountain airbase like in Mainland China long time ago. So their new shiny F-16V can do something to do in the war.

's underground hanger sections are built into mountains.

It's suspected PLARF have ballistic missiles with bunker busting warheads that can directly penetrate protection of such bases. DF-15C have such a warhead that can penetrate 25m of reinforced concrete, and it may have been superseded by even newer weapons with even higher performance.

However even if these bases can't be directly attacked their entrances are well known, so more conventional weapons can be used to hit their entrances and seal the complex

the other consideration here is that now the PLAN has attained the ability to deploy east of Taiwan over an extended period of time, where it becomes feasible for them to set up an inner cordon under the cover of outer cordon facing potential USN intervention. it only takes a few DDG's and a few J-15's maybe, and any ROCAF aircrafts that manages to take off from the eastern airports will instantly come under fire as they try to climb. they are easy targets to HHQ-9 if they climb, if they stay low then they can be picked off by J-15. it might take about a day or two of them trying to do this before they give up.
