first picture is QBZ95 classic.
second picture that is interesting. the uniform is PLA, and this is a bolt action sniper weapon. so by logic that eliminates the QBU 88. So it's Indian right? Wrong. the Indian Army's most modern ( that I know of ) sniper rifle is the Mauser SP66 whichs is a wooden stocked rifle. they also have a few JS 7.62 from the PRC. but this is not that either as the stock is still wrong, but we are barking up the right tree because this fell down during the Airshow.

CS/LR4. this means Either the Indians are looking at it to replace the SP66 or The PLA is looking at it for potential issue. either is interesting. now why is it this? look at the small rail on the front of the stock, look at the cut outs on the side and the straight bolt handle.
So why would the Indians want it? 7.62x51mm offers a modern system to replace the 60s era mauser.'
Why would the PLA be thinking about it?
7.62x51mm would offer the Marksmen of the PLA a medium range cartridge effective out to 1000 meters compare that to their current QBU 88 at about 800. adoption for them however would require a doctrinal change. the QBU 88 would remain as a DMR rifle well a dedicated sniper element following western scout snipers would come into being. if so this would be a major shift in the PLA.

yes, it's the fabric bag made in the same camo as his uniform hanging from the weapon. but none on the CS/LR4 which as a bolt action has a slower rate of fire meaning a well trained shooter could pick up their own brass besides which if it's a fire issue the single shot brass would be cooler then the rapid fire as the metal is used as a simple means of venting excess heat

NB AK-47, a heavily modified Chinese Type-56 by Norinco, according to the captioning.

I wonder if this is actually based on the Type-86, which is itself a bullpup version of the Type-56.

In terms of the conversion it's not that earth shaking conventional to Bull pups have been around for decades.
The interesting thing about this is.... It's not a AK or Type 56 Assault rifle. it's not based on the 86 it's not even Chinese!

Actually the worst AK ever was the one made in Japan, actually, by that doomsday cult. I still remember the news said that it was found when the police raided the cult's compound not long after the sarin gas attack in Tokyo, along with full sets of tooling and a few samples. Can't remember the details but it was said the quality of those AK were so bad it's more a threat to the shooter than to those at the business end of it.

And back to the more recent topic a bit...the CS/LR4 is seems to be using the newer, alas less observed, body that has some semblance to Accuracy International designs. Don't know about the optics because as of now sub-MOA optics still beyond China's production capabilities, apparently.
