The temperature in the depth of the Tianshan Mountains in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region dropped sharply to -32℃ on Jan. 11, 2011, but the Biedieli Frontier Defense Company of a frontier defense regiment under the Xinjiang Military Area Command did not suspend its border patrol due to the freezing cold. Seen in the photo are three soldiers of the company on patrol duty climbing over a thick ice-clad mountain slope on the way to a border sentry.

On January 13, the officers and men of the “Tiger Company” of a frontier defense regiment under the Shenyang Military Area Command of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army went to the Lesser Xingan Mountains in northeast China to conduct tactical training under frigid climate conditions at the temperature of -37℃.(By Wei Jianshun)
