PLA Photos & Videos

If that photo is 'real' as in not posed for photo-op etc then I have to seriously question the effectiveness and training capabilities of the PLA's firearms training and shooting skills. Assuming it's the latter then you want to ask why would anyone 'fake' pose like that?

The most common are the Weaver, Isosceles or some adaptation of either one. They are tried and true methods because they work! Hollywood or gangbanging stances and grips are not effective. They belong in Spaghetti Westerns and low budget movies.
Actually even Hollywood nowadays employed actual firearms instructors to teach the actors how to properly handle their weapons in higher budget action movies.

I think we've seen plenty photos with PLA and PAP holding the correct stance while shooting a hand gun. This one might be just a guy trying to be a smart a$$.

but not once Ves but twice. Once that I picked up here the other time in the Female Thread. One possibility is that it's the photographer but if so Why. In the other shot it could be for face but this is from the rear. so that's not valid. The only other would be signature that this photographer poses them for "art's sake". which is ridiculous. only other thing I can think of is that this is a actively taught technique and based on the fact that both photos show it, perhaps Actively qualified.

Check out the 7th photo in post #1646. We get at a least a dozen SWAT holding the hand gun properly. So it's 12 vs. 2. The odds is on my side :D I honestly think this one-hand thing is an anomaly. I only had to go back one page to find photos with people with good stance. If you take some time and go back some more, you will see that people use the correct stance in ALL the photos you can find.

I just randomly picked a page and found another one, third photo in post#1599 (page 107) , again good stance.

5th photo in post 1166 on page 78, good stance.

My theory at this point is that it's used only for qualifications. IT often happens that some relics of older training keep in the system when a nation's army goes through a massive modernization.

There's that and as a guy once explained two handed shooting is a very late 20th century shooting technique. Like cup and sauser came about in the 70s to the more modern tactical style that is taught now. A buddy of mine that is a cop in New York they train standard two handed, single handed and opposite hand for most scenarios like a hand being injured or occupied and you still need to keep your weapon drawn and able to engage a threat.

In more advanced training they teach you how to shoot from either side. Mwny modern rifles have the ejection ports either on front or downward. Caseless ammo mitigates hot brass on your face altogether. In urban combat environments it is especially useful to be able to shoot left or right because that wall or or debris you're hiding behind has a 50/50 chance on either side of you.

Of course caseless is still only developmental. For a bullpup best bet would be forward ejection like FN F2000. But for a pistol its not as much a issue but shooting one handed with a handgun is trained for in the west but you don't need that stance for it.
