PLA Photos & Videos

The Ministry of Public Security last Thursday launched a three-month program to train grassroots policemen who patrol streets and handle emergencies in using arms, according to Xinhua News Agency. [Photo: China News Service / Liu Xin]

That's good news given recent terrorist attacks, assuming these are the community policing type personnel who were previously unprepared to deal with armed violence. It would not be much help if this is still limited to select few Armed Police units getting firearms training.

I remember there is one principle about handling guns "Do not point your gun to human or animal even if it is loaded or empty". The principle is clearly not applied here.

It's actually to their side, the barrel is pointing away from their head upward.

People's Daily Online said:
During the last week of April, a regiment of helicopter airborne forces under the People's Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) carried out day-and-night live fire exercises under complex conditions. The Harbin Z-9WA helicopters completed low altitude penetration and night-time precision strike missions during the exercises.

That's some old School shooting stance. And by Old School I am mean Ye, School of Yur'

If that photo is 'real' as in not posed for photo-op etc then I have to seriously question the effectiveness and training capabilities of the PLA's firearms training and shooting skills. Assuming it's the latter then you want to ask why would anyone 'fake' pose like that?

The most common are the Weaver, Isosceles or some adaptation of either one. They are tried and true methods because they work! Hollywood or gangbanging stances and grips are not effective. They belong in Spaghetti Westerns and low budget movies.
Actually even Hollywood nowadays employed actual firearms instructors to teach the actors how to properly handle their weapons in higher budget action movies.
