Yes, but this time Cute Orca and Shenhua both reposted this and commented with “close enough” etc.

i also believe that now makes Yankee, Orca, Otter and Shenhua as all agreeing that first flight at CAC is imminent.
To be honest, close enough can imply that the back end looks similar but with 2 engines or there's another oddity in the 6th gen that isn't 3 engines.

Rough on-the-fly translation:
(What happened to the Chinese NGAD repost? For OPSEC?)
(Guessed right)

I mean, he could just be kidding, but...
We should just note down that Ayi and Cute Orca seems to inferring 3 engines is correct and wait for the maiden flight. If they turn out to be right their credibility increases.

Ayi recently said Defence Minister Dong Jun was not under investigation himself but instead aiding an investigation and he was on the money that time when the official word got out days later (incidentally that post was also deleted soon after), so if he's right again then his 含金量 will just continue to increase.

If there were any previous indicators that there should be a reason to expect J-XD to have three engines then I think we could have taken the imagery and associated vague "approvals" with a bit more weight.

Such a major design choice/deviation only being signaled now this late into the cycle, is not impossible but it's odd.

Unless we have that, or if someone of credibility outright says "it will have three engines" (or something to that effect), it is worthwhile to note that any number of other features on the art (large, tailless design for example) could be seen as "sensitive" even if it's in the ballpark of "close enough". Considering how little we know of what J-XD will actually look like, and considering how the various configurations it may have are most likely to be variations of high speed flying wings, even informed guesses are probably going to get us relatively close to the money.

Otter stocks continue to rise.

If it does end up being a three engined configuration I’m curious what the reddit soyboys will claim that J-XD stole its design from.
North American NR-349, obviously. They stole it's schematics along with the Lockheed ones.

"It was one of Lockheed's concept designs they got through their latest hack."

Their conviction is that China cannot create anything without stealing so they can spin whatever narrative they want.
Can't win against hive-minded jingoism.

Let's not distract the thread by ragebaiting people here with hypotheticals about what other people may say.

I understand that many users here are present on other social media platforms or boards where there are poorly informed opinions, but I think it would be really more productive for us if we pretend they don't exist, unless there is actually a specific question or something productive to be derived.

We do not want to be in a situation where there is direct cross forum/board/platform arguments between this place and others.

The 2021 engine conference, WS-19 is under "material selection" stage, NG engine is also under "material selection" stage.
