This has no more credibility than Minnie Chan’s claim that Type 055 and J-16D got jammed by Growlers. SCMP is a rag.
I've noticed you're posting articles recently without much critical appraisal of them.
If these articles have to be posted, please write whether you believe in their content or whether you disagree with them, because we don't need to have a bunch of rubbish posted on SDF merely for archival purposes, and knowing your opinion on them would allow us to better clarify their actual content and credibility.
Given this was written by Stephen Chen, his articles are Minnie tier (aka the articles should be actively derided).

Quite obviously the large black shape is the shadow of the red and white crane.
I saw this when Tom S first posted on X and was going to post that here when someone pointed out it was a shadow. To his credit TS acknowledged this but for some reason still let TWZ post his thread.
Probably the cranes were driving piles to renew/replace the wharf.
