Two high-resolution images of PLAN's training sailing ship Wave Breaker (破浪).
We have a lot to interpret from this piece.
Where is this unfamiliar sea region? 1000 nautical miles would put it near the edge of the 9 dash line in SCS, or way past Okinawa, or beyond Hokkaido. If it is near Japan, the JMSDF would probably have talked about it already, but since there’s no news, SCS is the more likely direction. However I wouldn’t consider anywhere in the SCS to be an unfamiliar sea region to the PLAN, so that leaves one possibility: it slipped past PH through the Bashi Channel towards Guam and held the exercise somewhere between Taiwan and Guam. Correct me if I’m wrong. The semi-submersible ship Yinmahu, attached to a support ship detachment of the PLA Navy, recently mobilized for nearly 1,000 nautical miles to an unfamiliar sea region, consecutively carried out vessel loading and transport training
There were 2 typhoons that hit East Asia in the beginning of Sep. One went through PH to Hong Kong then Vietnam, the other one from midway between Guam and Okinawa to Shanghai. From the above, my guess is the semi-submersible went to sea at around 27 or 28 August during the 2nd typhoon.During the training, Yinmahu simultaneously loaded three smaller boats at sea under strong wind and wave plus low visibility conditions
Don't know if two Zubr fit ?This seems very significant, here is the GT story, describing this as a strategic asset.
So we have it carrying 3 small boats and a Zubr, amongst other things, including the possibility of entire weapons platforms.
I am wondering what these small boats were and what the weapons platforms they might be referring to are? Available space is over 30m x 100m.
You are thinking of 1000 nm simple straight line away from Chinese coast. i.e. a radius of 1000 nm away from port of Zhanjiang, in Guangdong. We have a lot to interpret from this piece.

I’m aware of that, but then I don’t think the end destination would be far enough to be in a place that counts as an unfamiliar sea region, so I ruled that out.You are thinking of 1000 nm simple straight line away from Chinese coast. i.e. a radius of 1000 nm away from port of Zhanjiang, in Guangdong.
In reality that ship could have travelled along Chinese coast line of Gunadong and part of Fujian for severel hundred nm before going outward to open sea for another few hundred nm. i.e. a irregular line of route that lasted 1000 nm.
That is to say, it might have travel from Zhanjiang, passed Hong Kong coast, went to Southern coast of Fujian, then went to a destinatiion that may be anywhere, could be East China sea, Yellow Sea, SCS or West Pacific, sailed for a total journey of 1,000 nm.
It’s over 100m x 30m, two Zubr’s would be about 120m, so it’s hard to say, it might fit if it was really squeezed in there.Don't know if two Zubr fit ?
