I don't think the PLAN needs to bring the Yuan Wangs, which are under a different government administration, but they need to bring a Type 815 ELINT ship along for deployments like these. A good example is when 161 Hohhot lead a task force group past the dateline into the mid Pacific, and one ship among them was an 815. Maybe they should build a few more of these. A good reason why you should attach an ELINT ship into task group is that they can monitor who is trying to monitor you. More than just a space tracker, the Marshall Krylov does that.

The Yuan Wangs operate like lone wolves. They go into the deep Pacific or even the Atlantic, going around for months til their mission is complete.

An anonymous source hints that a new batch of ship building order has been assigned to Dalian & JNCX shipyards:

Twenty 052DG(or 052DL unofficially) for Dalian;

Eight 055A for JNCX.

Let's wait for more info.

Wow, that would give the PLAN numerical parity with USN Pacific Forces (60-70 AEGIS vessels).

Finally, we were waiting for new batch of destroyers to come. Now let's wait for confirmation.

Interesting what improvements would be on 055A ? I'd like to see IEP, Rail gun and 128 UVLS ... but perhaps a bit too much

From the various videos I've been seeing I think chances are good that railguns will be on the 055A at the very least. (haven't they already been testing one on a naval vessel for a year or two now? It should have been working fine on land before they put it on sea, and there should also have been more improvements in terms of motor/electricity etc in the last couple of years.)
