From what I have heard thus far there has been loads of friction in getting Chinese technology into Russian military products.
For example there were some diesel engine sales to Russia for the Buyan-M corvettes but the Russians apparently were not happy with engine reliability. When the US enacted sanctions on Japanese carbon fiber for the MC-21's wing the Russians tried Chinese carbon fiber but were not satisfied with the quality of the product for their application and ended up making their own production facilities.
I would not be surprised if the cases where a Chinese product was in fact integrated ended up not being talked about at all however. That is just typical of Russian military industry rumors. You typically never hear anything when a project is working properly.
In what time period were these "frictions" occurring? 2000s, 2010s, a few years ago? I find the diesel engine thing hard to believe since Chinese marine diesels serve just fine on PLAN warships.
The Buyan-Ms use CHD622V20s and Grachonok use TBD620V12.
AFAIK, the CHD are not used on any PLA naval ships, while the TBD620V12 are gensets on the 054As (not prime movers as on Grachonok).
I leave it to people to judge as to whether those selected diesels are representative of the diesels on other PLAN ships... (also the CHDs at the time were less mature than they are now)....
To my understanding, the subsequent Buyan-Ms continued using CHDs despite initial teething issues... not unreasonable given they're ultimately using a new powerplant different to what it was designed for originally.
