please explain what is Area 51?
To put it simply, Area 51 is a highly-classified air base in Nevada, USA, that has been used for supporting the development and testing of experimental aircraft and weapons systems for the USAF (and before that, the CIA) since the mid-1950s, including the U-2 and SR-71. Due to the intense secretive nature surrounding the site and the extreme lengths of security and information control around and about the site itself (and the projects undertaken within the site), Area 51 is a frequent subject of many conspiracy theories.

(However, disclaimer - I do not claim that the PLAAF site mentioned in that Twitter post above corresponds to/resembles the actual features and functions of Area 51 in any way.)

The requirements of the bid is as follows:
–– Complete the reverse design of the F35 EOTS optical system, which has the following functions and features: 1) Ground and air infrared search and range tracking, staring infrared imaging with 4x magnification; 2) Laser ranging function and laser spot tracking and guidance function, operating laser wavelengths are from (?) 1.064um and 1.57um; 3) Single aperture design; 4) 7-sided sapphire optical window, providing 360-degree omnidirectional field of view; 5) A visual axis calibration mechanism to achieve the alignment of laser and infrared imaging boresight; 6) EOTS components are contained in a composite material enclosure, and the system structure is approximately 493 mm × 698 mm × 815 mm; 7) A U-joint provides a 360° field of view.

–– Provide the optical reverse design file and mechanical structure reverse design file of F35 EOTS, and provide a detailed design report.

PLAA's Shijiazhuang Flight Academy summarized their experience, innovated training methods for close range air combat, and made the training more practical, reducing the flight duration during the training cycle for third-generation aircraft pilots by 300–400 hours.

Shijiazhuang Flight Academy is the experimental unit for the new mode of training pilots. A few years ago, the academy received a batch of third-generation machines. Meanwhile, they began to try to let novice pilots directly fly the advanced Trainer after completing the courses on the primary trainer.

Does china have a LRASM equivalent?
There are several target drones with the same characteristics.
I'm not anywhere near a field expert, but isn't the whole point of LRASM it's sea skimming and maneuverability capability, which exists across all the current gen VLS/launcher based hypersonic/high supersonic PLA anti ship missiles as well?

The difference is that China has guidence technology which bypasses the plasma sheathe from hypersonic weapons which would otherwise render guidence impossible. So in essense China doesn't seem to need a subsonic sea skimming missile, because it can use much faster missiles with the same profile.

Why copy LRASM when you can stuff YJ21 into the same VLS, which is much much harder to intercept and likely represents a tech branch that has more long term potential compared to subsonic?

The only area where China has experimented with subsonic munitions is on plane borne ones, these are way more similar to smaller sized storm shadow rather than bigger LRASM. Here, there's an obvious incentive because the heavier hypersonic weapons can't fit on multirole jets.
