AKF-98 likely also has an anti ship capability if not variant.
Would be great if the AKF-98 can become the fully-fledged Chinese counterpart to the LRASM.
Based on estimations that I could gather online, the AKF-98 seen in Zhuhai 2022 has a dimension of ~3.88 meters (length) x ~0.45 meters (height) x ~0.72 meters (width).
If the estimations are correct, then it should allow the J-20s and J-35/31s to carry the AKF-98s inside their internal weapons bays. This is a great plus when compared to the US' LRASM, which is too big for F-35's internal weapons bay.
However, the shorter length of the AKF-98 relative to the LRASM could also mean a shorter range for the latter, but it could be a compromise for better degree of stealthiness for the J-20s and the J-35/31 compared to the F-35 when carrying such munitions.

In the meantime, the purported dimension of the AKF-98 should allow it to fit inside the UVLS of the 052Ds and 055s as well, if plans to adopt AKF-98 for naval platforms does exist. With the present length of just nearly 4 meters, I believe the missile can be lengthened to fit inside the 7-meter-deep and 9-meter-deep UVLS of the 052Ds and 055s for even greater strike ranges.
Perhaps China can also get her own stealthy variant of Block V Tomahawks (with both land-attack and anti-ship capabilities) too from the AKF-98...
