Does anyone know the background-story of both aircraft ??? I've never seen this logo on the grey machine before  ... and also what's up with the disassembled one.

Very interesting.

Here are some of the recent photos of Y-8GX1 and Y-8GX4 posted on Chinese forums a few days ago. I just think it's good to finally see these Y-8 high series planes finally increase in numbers. There are 4 Y-8GX4 now serving in the 10th division (21014-21017). There are also pictures for 21011 and 21013 for Y-8GX1. I think 21012 probably also exists. So, that's a good number of both variants

this is pictures from the 26th division. You can see the 4 KJ-2000 and 2 Y-8GX3 stationed there. Interestingly enough, Huitong says there are 3 GX3s in this base.

That looks more like more than 4 KJ-2000s. It seems to me that the photos have to be shot from outside the fence, and it would be very difficult to have those photos of the planes with the nose more towards the camera, to be the same planes as the phones with the nose aimed more away from the camera.

Why do you always post BS opinions and then state every single time, "and Chinmese officials agree!!!." Then you go ahead and choose the LEAST CREDIBLE SOURCES like TW defense mags or Kanwa or Russian garbage sites as support. You might as well pull up strategy page or Wikipedia as well.

Also there is something called grammar that you may consider.

Oh, don't get worked up, they're just Chinmese officials, not to be confused with Chinese officials (as if, the uncredited, unsourced hearsay about some nebulous "Chinese official" stamps a statement in golden authenticity. Gee golly, perhaps these statements are ... lies??).

I agree.. Those are just simple BS.

Chinese officials doesn't release such statements, they are usually very secretive especially if we are talking about negative aspects.

the article come from kanwa April 2009 issue .

Y-8 is a very old aircraft, older propeller aircraft tend to suffer from high cabin noise and vibration.some aircraft manufacturer attempt to overcome this problem by using wide chord 8 blade propeller to lessen the cabin noise and vibrating problem.
