This set of picture showed up 6 months ago, but it does not mean they were taken 6 months ago. In fact, I remember there was a similar picture at least one year+ ago, which also caused some hot debates whether XAC is building or just modifying IL76.

I know, these picture look quite confusing (including myself) that's why they were used to suggest China was building her own transporter.

Now, to be honest, I don't know whether this is a new IL76 in knocked down status or an old IL76 for modification. The conclusion I remeber is that this is an IL76, not a transporter made in China.

Does anybody have the latest word on how the PLAAF is going to build more KJ-2000's? Have more IL-76's arrived? Have they bought some old ones to fix-up? Are they really making their own copy (as the photograph suggests)?

It's interesting that you mentionned this, because we just got some new photos of KJ-2000 with confirmed different pennant numbers. I'm attaching them with this. The first 2 photos attached are just posted today and they are 30074 and the last picture came out early this month. I looked up Scramble plaaf orbat for the location of 26 division and it is said to be located in Shanghai, so it's definitely in a different regiment than the first regiment of KJ-2000s. Also of note, this was a fighter division, but is now I guess a C3I sort of division. Apparently, the J-8IIs are transferred to the 29th division. This regiment with KJ-2000 should have at least 4 (30071-30074). The other 2 regiments in 26th divisions are now apparently a surveillence (or ELINT) regiment and a SAR regiment?

This explains the new KJ-2000 pictures lately. It's clear that they have at least two operational regiments of KJ-2000s.

according to US,both KJ-2000 andKJ-200 may not yet officially enter service.
is there any link-16 type joint data distribution system for the aircraft?

KJ-200 may not be, but the KJ-2000s seems to be in an IOC status. As for the data links, the PLAAF isn't telling much but its a healthy assumption that they do have some sort of high data transfer rate data link that corresponds or is compatible to the PLAN's HN-900.

to this date, there's no mention of Chinese link-16 equivalent, although russian do provide naval link-16 to PLAN.aurgment the PLAN link-W.which is compatible to US link-14(?) vietnam war era data link system.

HN-900 appears to be th closest thing to Link-16. Russian equivalent to Link-16 is known as Light Bulb, which you can see in the Sovremannies. I suspect that the PLAN may also be using a Light Bulb clone.

Yup they are museum pieces.

I'm not that good in interpretation, I wonder if anyone can help me on this. If I'm not mistaken it seems like a new group of KJ-2000 with the following serial numbers.

It seems to me potentially there maybe as many as 9 KJ-2000s now.

Bort 762 First prototype.

First Flight (for further development and IOC)

B4041
B4042
B4043

Second Flight (operational status)

30072
30073
30074
