Recently J-10s and JH-7As are sporting a new device on the back that appears to be a satlink but might also double as a datalink.

more like GPS receiver than satcom.if you check the latest variant of F-16C you also notice similiar GPS reciever.

Beidou is more than just GPS. Read more about Beidou, it has communication capabilities, and this is one of those characteristics Beidou is dfferent from GPS. The full extent of these communication capabilities is not fully disclosed.

either way, I'm pretty sure the latest plaaf fighters all use datalink, JF-17 article from last year talked about its datalink.

according to August issue of combat aircraft magazine, the data link for PAF will be imported thus allow the aircraft to receive data from Eyrie AWACS.

I'm sorry but that's not fully certain and I have grave doubts that such a datalink would be allowed to fall into Chinese hands even for installation on the JF-17. There is just way too much classified and sensitive material in a datalink. IMO, the mention is a wish think. Its not fully certain the Erieye would be bought as remember, China is still offering a Y-8 AWACS as an alternative.

I can tell you for certain that the PLAAF, much like the rest of the PLA, exercise in heavy ECM conditions that "with datalink" and "without datalink".

the PAF data link could be imported, but the JF-17s offered by China with All Chinese avionics use Chinese data link.

I doubt it..Why? Because of the destruct command given before landing the aircraft. All that "speical" equipment on board was rendered useless..

You're right, Popeye. Those guys destroyed everything sensitive on the plane before it landed, so there's no way they Chinese were able to examine the data-link.
