Will the Chinese AWACS able to detect the stealth bombers?
Yes, they can but not at long range. The problem is that the stealth bomber has so much flight time that it will just turn and attack the same target undetected from a different direction. The chinese AWACS will have trouble maintaining a solid "lock" on the stealth, but the stealth bomber can eisily detect the AWACS by tracking the powerful AWACS radar and just fly around it. The USAF can bankrupt the PLAAF using fuel costs by forcing them to fly AWACS planes around the clock over their entire territory.

Well, we're finally getting pictures of the surveillence platforms again. About a year ago, we were getting a new type every week, but we haven't had any photos of KJ-2000 this year until now. It could be a new one from the colour of the radar, chin + no numbering. And also, it looks like a new Y-8 Command Post (the prototype was yellow).
Thanks to xinhui on CDF for the pictures

That looks like a new KJ-2000 to me, but retaining the old black color radome. The fourth KJ-2000 had a grey one.

I saw a picture of flying KJ-2000 (google earth) on a Chinese forum yesterday. Well, after hours of searching, finally found it! It's doing a landing near an air base in Nanjing: 32 02 07.10N 118 52 42.24E

Pics from the CDF. New KJ-2000. Strangely, these pictures are indicative of brand new construction, not modification of existing airframes.

WTF? China is making an IL-76  If so, that's a huge surprise since everybody here assumed China lagged behind in big transport planes.

Could it be that they can make some parts of it, but must import other parts (e.g. engines) from Russia?

I wonder how long ago these photographs were taken. It's hard to imagine China had been making its own Il-76's for a while now.

This could be huge unexpected leap forward for internet PLA fans.... just like the Yuan and the ASAT :china:

The first pic is fake (CGI) but the second looks at least interesting!:D

Personally I would not be surprised if China has decided to produce Il-76 especially for AWACS use under license and is acquiring some important parts like engines and wingparts from Russia and perhaps Uzbekistan. This development shows instructively (if this is true of course... )
how dynamic and flexible China's aerospace industry has become during the last decade. :coffee:

^ I would not be surprised either, but this contradicts statements from Russian manufacturers that they cannot fulfill their contract with China on delivery of Il-76 at the contracted price nor delivery by the contracted date.

If China was already making licensed Il-76, then it wouldn't even be an issue. So there is clearly a contradiction here.

One possibility is that China had already studied Il-76 in detail, and when the deal fell through, China decided to start building their own for testing. This is what we see in the second picture. The first one, then, is a CGI of what it would presumably look like when its done.

CGI? Are you sure? Look closely at the first picture. It actually has true unit numbers on the tail, red too, which is the correct color. If it didn't have those numbers, it would be more plausible it was a CGI. Also note the tail turret has been turned into a radome.
