I have a question, what do command post do?
The aircraft now serves the Chinese army and is intended to fly PLA commanders during war. The 737 is intended to allow a PLA crew of generals and staff to fly close to a battlefield, issuing commands to their army, navy and air force from the airborne headquarters.
Pakistan and China sign deal to develop long-range radar equipped early warning planes
The Associated PressPublished: November 24, 2006
ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan and China have agreed to jointly develop long-range radar equipped early warning aircraft, the Pakistan Air Force said Friday in a statement.
The announcement came during a visit to the country by Chinese President Hu Jintao in which the two allies are expected to discuss expanding ties in the defense, nuclear, economic and trade sectors.
The Pakistan Air Force and Chinese Aviation Industries agreed "for long term collaboration and co-development in the fields of aircraft manufacturing and other related fields including AWACS," the PAF said.
It said a Memorandum of Understanding was signed in Islamabad between the PAF and the Chinese Aviation Company, CETC, for the improvement and further development of Chinese Airborne Early Warning System.
"The same may be delivered to Pakistan in coming years," the statement said.
Pakistan Air Force is already collaborating with another Chinese aviation company, CATIC, for the co-development and co-production of JF-17 Thunder fighter aircraft.
Fight JF-17s are expected to be delivered to Pakistan during 2007.
DO PLAAF has equivalent Link-16 JDTDS(joint data distribution system) system, while PLAN do fit with locally design data link (link-11 equivalent) and russian produce link-16,the PLAAF counterpart is still bit of mystery.
link-16 uses high hoop RF plus data encryption.which make link-16 harder to jam than link-11.
I'm sure they do, since JF-17 video shows that it will be equipped with datalink. I'm just not sure of the specs of the protocol.

report that Chinese AWAC encounter technical difficulties, poo ECCM and insufficent range, but positive side was anti stealth.
That sounds a bit fishy, as range and 'anti stealth' are quite interdependant. Array in that thing is probably designed for relatively lower wavelengths than western counterparts which would provide for (somewhat) longer range detection of all planes, including stealthy ones.
