Yes, and a nation's president is a highly reliable source as to what a country is buying. Let's see a signed contract otherwise, it's all talk and no action. Remember, Brazil's president earlier spouted that his country was buying French Rafale fighters for their F-X2 competition, but that competition is still ongoing, and another contender is actually hinted at having the edge.

And it doesn't have to be German Leopard's; lots of T-72's and other tanks are out there as well. It's very much a buyer's market out there in the tank world.

I don't know why you can't accept the simple reality Chinese VT-1A will win the competition?

Or maybe you think Peru President and Peru Army are bunch of idiot who chosen the worst perform tank out of all contender just because the Chinese tank is cheap and no political string?

Chinese VT-1A is the best value for money. If u don't believe , ask Peru army and president. ;) I bet during evaluation, T-72 is badly maul by Chinese VT-1A and Leopard half dead just trying to knock out the VT-1A. :rofl:

By the way, the action has already carried out. Chinese build tank driven by Peru army crew and parade in the street and with Peru President words. I can bet 100% with you VT-1A is the winner.

Visual comparison of turret armor package on T-96G vs. VT1A.

From prior NORINCO publications, it'd appear that the thicker add-on armor packages is more effective vs. tandem warheads, vs. the thinner plating is not.

My guess is that the VT-1A uses the composite armor package of the MBT-2000 and the thinner (lighter) ERA, to keep mass low. However, the MBT-2000 and the ZTZ-99 may use the same composite armor.

That reminds me: The basic Type 96 didn't have a stabilized gun (I don't know if the 96G has it, but I assume that it does.), and since the VT-1A is derived from the 96 Series, but is fighting against other competitors, it would be reasonable to think it has a stabilized gun.

It seems to be a smaller target than other tanks in the competition, including the Eastern tanks.

All we have confirmation is that the Chinese tank was evaluated and that negotiations are ongoing. To say definitively that Peru is buying Chinese tanks is counting your chickens before they hatch. In fact, 7 months ago, if we applied your logic, we would be saying that Peru was going to buy Polish tanks.

Looks to be very similar as that's the best export standard China is offering so far. The Type96Cs are only for domestic use.
