The Air Force is considering to procure the J-35 fifth generation fighter instead of the J-31 for it’s first batch of the PAF Gyrfalcon NGFA acquisition, as the J-31 will reach production maturity needed for export much later, and the PAF wants a stealth fighter aircraft within the next few years.
Later batches will be the J-31 fighter aircraft as it reaches production level development stage.
No PAF pilot has yet been sent to China for fighter training on the Gyrfalcon fifth generation stealth fighter, however the PAF intends to send pilots over for conversion training within the 2024-2025 timeframe.

Interesting since it confirms my scepticism regarding "Pakistan will receive its J-31 as early as mid/late 2025" & also regarding the training ... but I also don't believe that the PLAN will give then -35 soon, they will need them all for their own units & training. But let's wait and see.
But, OTH it also affirms that the news circulating of PAF getting NGFA in next couple of years are proved to be true while one can argue on type whether to be J31 or J35 to justify.
If this is true, and Pakistan inducts J-35 first and then J-31 then it could be an efficient way of building a land and a carrier capable force, if Pakistan would then acquire a carrier of some sorts, even with a ramp like Turkeys latest design, or a Type 076E. They could even join Turkeys carrier program.
I could imagine something like this..
1. Pakistani buys and inducts 24 J-35s
2. Pakistan later buys and inducts 24-48 J-31s
3. Pakistan buys a medium sized carrier with a ramp or a EM catapult.
They probably already have the surface ships and subs to make this a powerful CBG, especially in the Arabian Sea, without spending too much more than what is listed above. This seems like an efficient way to induct Chinas stealth fighters into your national forces.
