One of the mainstream news channel is reporting that Pakistani pilots are under training for FC-31s.

As per reporting it's 'according to the sources'.

I am fully aware that in many forums I am considered one of the harshest critics of such claims, which have now escalated to the point that „Pakistan will receive its first aircraft as early as December 2025, that there is a secret cooperation agreement and licensed production, and that a total of four squadrons have been ordered“...

On the other hand, the J-35 itself is not yet in series production or in use for the PLANNA, and this will take years, and for the J-31 relevant for Pakistan, there has only been a prototype since September 2023 at best.

Consequently, in my opinion, an introduction and delivery as early as 2025 or even 2026 is simply impossible, and consequently I view all of these reports as PR and propaganda for the country's own population, especially since they are very vague overall.

Or is there a possibility that there is more to it?

I do share the same sentiments as you. I shared this because unlike the twitter accounts in the past, this time it was on a mainstream news channel.

Tho I do feel there is a remote possibility of exchange of information if PAF is going to be the launch customer and if such strategic decision has indeed been made. That may include PAF pilots and/or personnel visiting China and eventually that being dumbed down as per the usual journalistic standards when reporting on millitary hardware to come out as what was mentioned in the news.
