It was peaty. The 100m breaststroke silver medalist. I heard Aus also have some swimmer tested positive. And a separate incident where a swimmer sent home for some hanky lanky with her boyfrIend. At least thats wat was inferred lol
This is the real COVID Olympics. At least in Tokyo, they had strict protocol to prevent spread and people took it very seriously. Apparently in Paris, people don't even go home for COVID anymore; they're expected to sleep it out and compete whenever they feel up to it. That's why so many people are gonna catch it. And I don't even think there's mass testing; if you don't feel bad enough to report it, nobody checks so nobody knows how many people really have COVID.

With this wildcard going around (literally), nobody knows what's gonna happen at this point. The later your event, the greater the chance it'll be a shitshow now. Half of winning now is a matter of not being in a heavily symptomatic phase of COVID right on your competition day. Who's the real champ if half the top contenders have some varying degree of COVID? Who knows?

For real. I even heard Ian Thorpe the famous Aussie swimmer now commentator talking about this like it’s nothing. He said nobody apparently knows whats the correct protocol. Aus team been told to mask up but it’s not compulsory. Some didn’t. Then he said no one knows what to do when you have covid. Do you train separately, do you request a room in the Olympic village by yourself? But looks like nobody gets sent home unless you are too sick to compete I guess.

So not doing too well in women team gymnastics
dun sweat it. The women’s team only has outside chance of a medal. They have to really be perfect in their strong events like beam and bars and other teams to make mistakes to stand a chance. Cuz their weakness are vault and floor. And it’s huge compared to the top teams. 4-5th is normal. 2-3rd place would be awesome.

the real show will be the individual events of balance beam and uneven bars. China is strong gold contender in both of these.

There was a chance for bronze or silver but screw up in uneven bars and beams today

Yeah, Zhou fell on beam and Qiu legs touched the bars. It’s unfortunate but there’s always a chance of errors when difficult level is so high for their routines and they are first time olympians. it’s acceptable. Silver or bronze was always a small chance anyway, hopefully they won’t make same errors in their individual events.
