Just heard from some Sources that all the Components of the EUV Machine has been developed.

Just waiting for the Systems Integrator SMEE to move ahead and assemble the Litho Machine.

Harbin Institute has developed a 150W DPP EUV Light Source.
Unfortunately the Light Source has a Short Life Span.
Because of this life span issue, SMEE is reluctant to use the DPP Light Source.
This is holding up the EUV Litho Project.

SMEE may be waiting for the LPP EUV Light Source to be released?
Wonder how much more it would cost to replace the DPP while in use, and just wait for the LPP edition to come out in a couple years?

Ren Zhengfei says he will never hate US, desire for survival makes Huawei work harder-cnTechPost

From July 29-31, 2020, Huawei founder Ren Zhengfei visited Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Fudan University, Southeast University, and Nanjing University. According to the minutes of the meeting released today, Ren said he would never hate the United States and that the desire to survive made Huawei work harder.

Ren said that today's technological and economic prosperity is closely related to the beacon of technology of Britain, Europe, America, Japan, and Russia. Therefore, it is necessary to respect these countries and respect the ancestors who contributed.
"The second, third, and fourth hits...and we realized that some politicians in the US wanted us dead. The desire to survive lifted us up and looked for a way to save ourselves," he said.
"No matter what, we will never hate America, that's just a part of the politician's impulse, it doesn't represent American businesses, American schools, American society," Ren said, adding, "We still have to keep the path of self-reliance and openness the same. If you want to be truly strong, you have to learn from everyone, including your own enemies."

Huawei has chosen the US as its theoretical base in the past, increasing its investment in the UK and Europe more than a decade ago, and later adding investments in Japan and Russia.
After the US added Huawei to the entity list, Huawei shifted its investment in the US to Russia, expanding the Russian scientist workforce and boosting the salaries of Russian scientists.

"We hope that in 10 or 20 years, our universities will take on the burden of catching up with the world's theoretical centers," he said.

Hi WTAN,

So introduction date 2022?
I think with the issues with Huawei, there will be pressure to speed up the development of the EUV machine, so 2022 is very likely. They can press the machine into service with the DPP Light source and gradually improve the life span of the light source.

If they go ahead with the DPP EUV Light Source, the Manufacturing speed will be less than the ASML Machine but the resolution should be similar.

I think they might go ahead with the DPP Light Source and hopefully work out the bugs and improve its life span. The main benefit is that the cost of the EUV with DPP is cheaper than with LPP. But yes......replacement will be costly.

Hi "WTAN,

So the DPP will be an interim solution ,while waiting for the LPP, if that is the case then DPP EUV will likely be introduce next year?

Not so much a cost problem as a total system redesign problem. A different light source will probably have different photonic properties that will force you to recalibrate your optics, or even force you to redesign the optics assembly from scratch. I don’t know enough about the particulars here but they can try to eat the cost and make the light source more modular, and just do more maintenance on the scanners, but you’ll still have to deal with longer system down times for production, which is its own set of issues.

Systems integration of the components may not be a trivial problem, since a big part of the integration may need to involve redesign of components for better cofunction. 2022 may end up being overly optimistic.

For what it's worth, CIOMP was able to build and operate a 2 mirror, 32nm (IIRC) EUVL machine before 2017.
I don’t think the kinds of problems I’ve mentioned are intractable but if I had to put my money on where they might hit delays it would be in reliability, integration, and other sorts of teething problems with the light source. I hope to be pleasantly surprised but as someone who works on systems integration a lot these days I can tell you this is usually the most time consuming part.
