ZTE was state company too, Trump went after it. As long SMIC use equipment from US company, it can be sanctioned by Trump.

well you never know, cause at that point, company have to either choose US or Huawei basically. for example even if samsung/other company have independent supply chain without any US component, they likely still need US market/business/$$ transaction and other connection to US etc. would US tell those company not to sell stuff to Huawei otherwise they will limit their access to US market/$$$ transaction/cutoff etc. Most business will choose US, unless China get involve said if they do that, they wont get access to china market etc. then they have to choose either US or China basically

So what if they sanction it just run all those equipment until it break down then replace it with domestic equivalent which is available except for the lithograph machinery which is domestic anyway!
SMIC is SOE their master is the state !

Even after I pointed out that SMIC is not a state-owned company, you guys are still calling it that. And now even ZTE is being called one sheesh!

SMIC could do that, but can SMIC replace all its manufacture equipment in few years. Also would US threaten use its dollar hegemony on SMIC, basically ban them $$ transaction, and any company work with SMIC is also on its sanction list. this is something Trump was thinking about using on Huawei before ban MediaTek working with Huawei. at this point any action from Trump i wont be surprised.

Does not really matter majority of their fund come from state, if the state say produce IC for Huawei they just have to follow it

So if their future earning is from domestic who care. The majority of their funding is from state venture fund and Tsinghua group

true, but that mean any company deal with SMIC have to isolated itself from US, cause by now we know Trump will go after any company that work with Huawei(mediatek, tsmc etc). So that means if Xiaomi/oppo/ or any chinese company that have some remote connection to US tech/market cant work with SMIC, they basically can't use US tech either such as google etc, otherwise Trump could go after them as well.

They don't use SMIC chip anyway so who care? they are minnow anyway The future order from Huawei will be huge since they have captured market
