European nations dangling the tenders for Huawei is just there to tease the CCP with juicy contracts. None of them will eventually go Huawei, maybe a few smaller nations where it just doesn't matter much. Germany cannot just come out and announce/admit they will not go with Huawei for 5G. They'll all bide their time for Ericsson and Nokia to catch up along with any other subcontracting vendors for equipment and components. If Germany simply became transparent and announced they will never be signing, they may stand to lose huge auto sales. Dangling the carrot allows Huawei competitors to realise there is time and opportunity yet for them, while they still milk China.

What the CCP should do it is realise they're being played and take initiative. Do as it would if all western European nations have outright banned Huawei. This will happen regardless and they're fooling themselves thinking there isn't some unity in western planning against China now. Unfortunatey for China it is the most hated and feared civilisation and the euros have diverted their attention from ruining Islamic civilisations towards setting China up for another century of humiliation, at their hands yet again. Chinese are still too divided (HK, Taiwan, and diaspora) and probably not yet caught up enough to resist this. Also apart from Pakistan, China hasn't a true ally or crony state like the Americans have.

Opium War - 1840, Boxer Rebellion - 1900, and 120 year's later at the beginning of yet another Chinese Zodiac cycle - 2020. Hopefully 3 sets of cycles and 120 years of humiliation can finally mark the end of this horrible chapter in Chinese history. CCP at the helm and the first time China's had strong and decent governance after 120 years of a mixture of traitorous and corrupt incompetents. No European nation is a true friend or partner of China. How is this possible when history is filled with one sided attacks and smears from these people against China? While it's down and while it's on the way up. 5G in Europe will come in Ericsson and Nokia alternatives. So we should really stop sharing the Europeans flip flop news on Huawei. Seriously a waste of time.

Well said. Major EU countries are not going to use Huawei. Germany can have either Nordstream 2.0 or Huawei, but they can’t have both. In all likelihood, they will not choose Huawei.
All these EU countries have already chosen, and are just delaying for fear of economic retaliation from China. At the end of the day EU will use 5G equipment made by EU countries. Only natural.

That is exactly why China needs to have 90 DDGs as soon as possible to make sure the SCS trading links are protected. This is not a fanboy fantasy. As the main adversary is trying to ban chips sales to you, and cut your transport links, the only way is to get prepared by making as many ships as your adversary have right now.

One way in which China can greatly reduce its vulnerability to any hostile entity in the rest of the world is to go all out in eliminating fossil fuel power stations and replacing the entire capacity with nuclear and renewable energy.

Biden just declared a goal to eliminate CARBON based power stations by 2035.

Even though the time frame even with a majority commitment to nuclear energy in this is most probably not likely, within 30 years it is definitely doable for the United States given its technological and financial wherewithal.

However, unlike China, the United States is EXTREMELY fragmented politically and beset by a myriad of special interest groups and its system of government and the prevailing attitude of great individualism over collectivism, makes it very difficult for the United States to commit to this in earnest. Even if Biden wins and stays in office for 8 years and is able to push through his plan comprehensively, there is little probability that his successors will be able to do so, even if they are willing to do so, because of the myriad of special interest groups.

Guess who and what are more likely to implement Biden's plan in his own country and even in the United States itself: Xi Jinping and the Communist Party of China.

It looks like China should ban Tesla and GM, and subsidize a lot more to Chinese EV makers like Nio and Byton. Tesla cars are all stealing drives data anyway.

How may more hydroelectric projects can be done in China, after all those along Yangtze river are complete?

There is the option of nuclear power stations, as well as solar power, and even planning ahead rectennas to receive microwave beams from power satellites in orbit of the Earth.

There is a lot of space for these, especially nuclear power...

US officials are 'having fun' with the entity list:

“They have so much fun with the entity list that they are entertaining that one, too,” said Mr Lewis. “They’re very happy with how that played out with Huawei.”

Don't take offense but you seem to post a lot of these "he said / she said" types of heavily opinionated articles. They don't mean much and serves a defeatist mindset.

Yes, the current Trump administration engages in childish behavior because it's filled with alt-right, nationalist politicians who act on emotions and ideology rather than logic. It is also the greatest weakness of the Trump administration and makes them extremely vulnerable to mistakes. Just look at their handling of COVID and racial unrest. I would argue that a Clinton administration would have handled both much, much better.

Also most articles, especially right leaning ones, would argue that the likes of Huawei, TikTok, Chinese vaccines, tech development are causing extreme headaches in the administration. If they were truly happy with how "Huawei played out", the topic would have died down from media ages ago as it would no longer be a threat. The only reason you see so many Huawei / TikTok / China tech threat newsreels is because they are highly problematic and there is no easy solution to stop them. Hence the endless debates and threats.

If the Trump administration can stop all of these so ease, why haven't it stopped them? Like I've mentioned before in other posts, it would be a red flag if you stopped seeing MSM attacks on Huawei/TikTok and Chinese tech in general. It would mean the U.S. no longer considers them a threat and not worth the attention. In fact, the more articles you see on Chinese tech in the MSM the more you know it's a growing threat.

Hope for best but plan for worst. A ""final solution"" is definetly something US is under active consideration if not already planned and decided...

Nukes are the ultimate equalizer in a scorthed earth policy sort of way... In the long run, its about which civilization can rebuild faster post...

Did you see github stored all its source code in artic vault recently?

China should have an underground plan to rebuild from scratch as quickly as possible a new Chinese civilization if US leaves it no choice but to go for ultimate reset if you know what I mean.

Outside of accelerating china's nuclear arsenal beyond minimum deterrence, the biggest obstacle the US faces right now is the COVID pandemic, which for ideological reasons it can't seem to defeat.

If the US is so bent on the destruction of China, why do we (the chinese people) seem so intent on pointing out its mistakes with the pandemic (i.e. not wearing masks/not socially distancing). Trump clearly has his views on how to handle the pandemic, and its not our place to tell him otherwise. Maybe even consider joining an anti-mask rally (assuming your young and have no co-morbidity) and in a few months time, go support an anti-vaccine rally (whether you actually get the vaccine or not can be another story) as some elected republican officials suggest.

Germany is giving the finger to the US on Nordstream, period. There is no negotiation with the US on this. But if you have any evidence for this, just give it! Otherwise, please stop repeating this idiocy everywhere.
