Thank you for the article. This sums up the progress made so far. If I'm not wrong, China is on a path to eclipse Japan's semiconductor industry ( hasn't it already done this in certain regards? ). That is a big accomplishment in itself.

Hopefully, China can make sure that the industry thrives (on technologically a generation or two inferior bases like 14nm , 64 layer 3D nand etc) by selling products to emerging markets like Latin America, Africa , SouthEast Asia and Far eastern Europe and parts of China itself where consumers are ready to overlook the performance gap for better value for money.
Hi Xsizor

Its exciting for me to see the journey , to see the STRUGGLE and FINALLY its ACCOMPLISHMENT. Its a underdog story , Japan had experience the same treatment with more advance tech but succumb to AMERICAN PRESSURE and lost its MOJO to compete. I want to see the FINAL RESULT hopefully before 2025.

Japan has the officially fastest supercomputer now.

But I think China's hiding its stats because of possible sanctions.
China doesn't promote MIC 2025 in any significant degree anymore. It's due to the reaction it received from the US. Official American documents named MIC2025 as a long term threat to it's global dominance.

Progress for MIC2025 is still ongoing but information is more distributed within niche industrial circles rather than broadcasted as an unified national objective. 2020's is a major transition decade for China's economy, maintaining technological progress is the priority rather than fruitless promotions.

I know I am just hopeful, Tbh I am not too bothered whether it’s the Chinese version (tho leaning more on the Chinese version) or the Japanese version but I want to ride a 600kph train!

Judging from what the Shanghai maglev felt like, it's not too different from being on a plane.

Hi Wangxi,

COMPETITION is good, Japan use ARM based chips, A question to CHIP EXPERT is that IDEAL. From what I know ARM based Chips is energy efficient but INTEL Chip is better in performance.

Hi ansy. Just a suggestion, if you want to highlight a word just bold, italic, or underline it. There's no need for CAPS LOCK. CAPS LOCK might give the impression that you're annoyed or mad. ;)

ekhm, it's more like there's German version and Japanese version. Chinese version can be considered as developed version of German Transrapid. But whatever, it's fast and it's good that China invests money in this technology.

That can be said for Fuxing as for Shinkansen, but it's just better and Chinese. No worries, maybe this could motivate Japanese to improve more the machinery. Germans should implement Maglev to it's country. WTF ? But there's no intention as it seems, so R&D by Siemens probably put on halt since there's no pragmatic reason. I'm curious about further implementation of Maglevs in China, through the paths of conventional HSR, upgrading the railway tracks to Maglev tracks
