Chinese lenses from the likes of Laowa and Yongnuo have long been capable of excellent image quality, but fell short of more esteemed rivals due to their handling difficulties, as they generally lack autofocus, or indeed any electronic communication between host camera and lens. The latest Viltrox lenses have no such compromises.
Laowa lenses received good reviews when I was still in the hobby of photography. Did not see many comments on Yongnuo and Viltrox though. It was the camera makers to blame for lacking autofocus with third-party lenses on their camera bodies. The Japanese keep the electronic interface between lens and the body tightly closed as a trade secret. Even lens from Japanese manufacturers such as Sigma are often expected to have quirky autofocus on bodies from, say, Canon or Sony.

Ffs, can't they name it better. If it is called INFERNO, it might have been number 1.

You're the right kind of patriot. Typically, people in the marketing business know the importance of constructive company or brand name. You don't model your product "P44" and hope to sell to the Cantonese.
Chinese names can only sell after decades if quality brand recognition. Huawei is an example, haier still ok, p44 will also not be acceptable to Mandarin speakers.

Viltrox lenses are incredibly well received with autofocus and image quality that are as good or better than the brand name lenses.

Laowa has always been a niche lens maker focused on manual focus and a more "vintage" aesthetic and feel.

"Claims"? Is it factually wrong? Is it in doubt?
