I hope Xi's policies for more Little Giants doesn't discriminate or put any disadvantage against other big corporations in China. China needs more Global Giants, like BYD, Huawei, etc. Chinese Global Giants that have global reach, able to innovate and put out forefront products, and are willing and able to work with other Chinese companies to tighten and improved Chinese supply chains.

Most of these Little Giants will not survive or be globally competitive if they don't have Global Giants to support them.

this little giants policy is for 14th five year plan(2021-2025) to secure the supply chain in critical high tech industries. it has nothing to do with big Giant high tech firms. but to help them to secure local supply chain. to solve bottleneck in core components..

China already have established high tech companies in each and every critical industry.

COMAC for civil aviation.
SMIC and Huahong is for semiconductor
AMEC/Naura/KingSemi for semiconductor equipment and tools. there are plenty more
SMEE for lithography
AVIC is for Military industrial complex
Liming/AECC/Xian is for Turbofan engines
KEDE/Jingdiao/Huagong/Qinchuan for high end machine tools
United imaging in High end MRI medical device.
Huawei for telecom equipment and 5G/6G

these are just few examples. i can literally name hundreds ..

《工程(英文)》是中国工程院2015年创办的全球发布、开放获取的工程科技综合性期刊。近年来,《工程(英文)》持续强化期刊学术品牌建设,努力将期刊搭建为高水平工程科技交流平台,推动期刊质量和影响力不断提升。

《工程(英文)》的影响因子从2018年的2.667提高到2022年的12.8,在世界工程科技综合期刊中名列前茅,先后入选“中国科技期刊登峰计划”以及“中国科技期刊卓越行动计划”领军期刊。这些成绩是如何取得的?记者进行了采访。

起步阶段,针对办刊时间较短、影响力不强等问题,中国工程院坚持全院办刊,提升学术凝聚力和学术影响力。“中国工程院先后制定出台《关于进一步加强学术期刊工作的意见》《中国工程院院刊发展规划》,加大办刊资源支持,发动全院9个学部的院士力量,广泛吸引国内外优质稿件,共同支持期刊快速发展。”延建林介绍。

276名学科编委,来自22个国家和地区,其中各国工程/科学院院士164人;组织出版60余个前沿热点专题,形成9个常设专题,60%以上稿件来自国际顶尖团队;读者覆盖全球150余个国家和地区;期刊出版周期从季刊、双月刊缩短到月刊,年度发文量从70篇增加至300篇……

科技进步离不开开放合作的学术平台支撑。《工程(英文)》自创刊起,就主动加强与世界主要国家工程院、相关国际组织以及国际知名科学家的合作。目前,期刊国际编委比例超过50%,国际作者比例达到60%,每篇论文至少有一个审稿意见来自国际学术同行。
