Did I make it sound like that was the only reason? I was singling out a particular reason. So just because every other nation has internet warriors who make a fool of their countries does not mean China deserves a free pass. It also depends on the issue and how it is worded, etc. An Indian who makes a case for taking southern Tibet is different, more nutty, compared with a Chinese who makes a winning argument to take back Vladivostok, et al. I don't know if you agree or not.
There's always gonna be Internet trolls and warriors that will make their nation look bad.

It really isn't possible to not have them, and also not worth the resources to try and remove them (not to mention that would also produce negative news in western media).

Besides the above, western news can very much 'fake' such Internet warriors (paint, or even creating such a troll account themselves and posting on say weibo).

Less than 15% of global population live in countries with higher GDP per capita than China. Also keep in mind that China makes up a significant chunk of global population. As China's GDP per capita goes up, so does the global average.
Chinese GDP is already higher than average. Now Chinese growth doesn't reduce global inequality, it exacerbate them..

I know entry-level Lockheed Martin engineers who're only making $50k/yr. While it sounds high if you translate it to yuan, that's basically nothing - its not enough to rent a 1-room apartment these days. People like to pretend that you can make money by working in Alabama where the cost of living is cheap and the salary is high... but somehow literally none of the people I know make that work. Everyone single person who took a lower-paying job in a "low cost of living" has ended up needing to stay with roommates and living paycheck to paycheck. These are people with advanced engineering and science degrees.
That just sounds like selection bias. If you can't make ends work in Alabama of all places with a 50K per year salary then something's wrong with your financial literacy skills.

Meanwhile, I know other engineers who have decided to take a job in a "high cost of living" zone... and for at least a couple of them they leave their first job months in for a 25%-50% salary increase.... only to do it again in a year or two again.
Folks who can get a 50% salary increase within a few months of landing their first job in SF/Seattle/Austin/NYC/Boston are likely the very top engineers, so you're comparing apples to oranges.

What I'm saying is... there's a lot of engineers and scientists in China who are making a hell of a lot more than American ones. The pay disparity in the US is just too big to make any sort of comparison in bulk.

China's gini inequality is higher than America's.. so any inequality in America is even worse in China. For strategic sectors where the Chinese government funnels in tons of cash, I can believe that Chinese engineers make more money due to massive subsidies. But on average, their salaries are much lower. GDP per capita (nominal) doesn't lie. Nominal wages follow closely. Anecdotes can often be misleading to the wider picture.

Eh I wouldn't take gini THAT super seriously.

Especially when you look under the surface for say the US with it's rampant amounts of homelessness, poverty and food insecurity (try checking how many needs to rely on food banks to survive) as well as the amount of people living check to check.

Not even the mods will remove them. As I replied to Ougua, we ourselves should refrain from doing those things. But I can assure you, not
many people can see the deleterious effects of gungho comments.

That is simply not true!

Gini coefficient by income 2016 China 38.5
USA 41.4

By the distribution of wealth the picture looks even much worser for the USA
Gini coefficient by wealth 2019 Chima 0.702
USA 0.852

Fantastic news. Only nuclear can truly replace coal as renewables are not a baseload energy, and some days the wind doesn't blow and the sun doesn't shine. That only leaves natural gas, hydro or nuclear as replacements. Hydro has clear limits, gas is polluting so that leaves nuclear.

Well done but much more needs to be built. Coal still represents a huge chunk of China's electricity grid.
