wait if all previeus tank cannot attack moving target wouldn't make that tank obsolete since most tank would move unless they are stupid and sit there to be hit

1. He actually meant indestructible by "heavy missiles" rather than "large caliber tank fire", the original text posted was exactly "你用重型导弹都打不掉我"

Can't believe it is indestructible by missiles attack from the top though :coffee:

Looks like they are not the elite unit. All Type 80/88 tanks and Type69 APC unit.

i dont think elite unit necessarily means that you get to have type 96...there is no such unit, not even in 38th GA.
but the huge congregation at the beginning looked cool though, with all the soldiers gettin ready to take off.

Shenyang regiment which is the elite of PLA gets the best of Type99 A2. How do you explain that?

but they are not all 99A, majority of their equipment is still 88.
there is no point in replacing all your tanks with 99A or even 96G

There are no urgency to modernize the army right now because nobody is stupid enough to invade China. Therefore, the pace of modernization in PLA had slow considerably for the last ten years, as many divisions and regiments disbanded. PLA is consolidated its army firepower and manpower, but I would expect the elite forces especially the 38 and 39 to have new toys in next few years. PLA had the tradition to give latest equipments to elite units first before distributing to other units. But only the elite of elites is guarantee to have newest toys: the other elite units usually need to wait and fight for it.

I'm not buying that either. Modern two stage shaped charges can defeat any armor, including armor that APSFDS rounds cannot defeat.
