different between 2A46M-1 (t-72B) and 2A46M-4 (t-80)?
there are report from tanknet, that ZPT-98 more or less identical to 2A46M-4 .anyone know muzzle enrgy for 2A46M-4?

I think the main different between the two guns (2A46M-1 and 2A46M-4) was that the latter can use newer ammunitions such as the 3VBM19/3BM42M (3BM44M) 125mm round that had a muzzle velocity of 7.4MJ and a penetration of 600mm to 650mm at 2000m. (source:

This suggests the new generation of armor is available and will replace the existing generation (which is described in this article). This corroborates the rumors about the new mbt.

Wish I could read Chinese because in that link there is what appears to be a CG of a Chinese tank descending from what is clearly a US Navy LCU. WTF?

Well, it's scanned from a Taiwanese Magazine that claims it has obtained top secrete information from Chinese arm manufacturers (in order to attract international buyers they claimed). So accuracy of stuff in the article is pretty suspect...

hp of some chinese fiberglass manufracturer. what do you guys think? might this claim be legit? i mean despite the name they gave it on the hp (“steel-fiberglass-superhard steel-fiberglass-steel”), as someone with a slight material science related background i think it is not something very unlogical to use if you're looking for stress resistant materials. anybody has an opinion on this?
