The J-10 will never the less be PLAAF main fighter in the future, with J-11 coming in second place. PLAAF current 3rd generation fighter the J-10 has slowed production just a little bit due to further upgrades of avionics and the transition from AL-31 to WS-10 happening somewhere in the end of this year.

Twin engines J-10 isnt gonna be the stealthy fighter but more so 3.5 generation comparable to the Eurofighter and Rafale. Once in production im guessing about 30 or so each year. Since PLA budget would've increased by the time the Twin Engined J-10 is released. I think the Twin Engined J-10 will be called J-12

J-XX the one everyones talking about will be China first 4th generation stealth fighter comparable to the F-22. But will introduced in very very small numbers.

Any about the conflict scenario of the F-22 China mainland has air surface missle that covers the all of the sea up to Tawains coast line. So F-22 have to worry about the missles and J-10/11.

To some previous post J-10 is way way better than the J-8, hands down.

My thoughts.

Basically, on the PLA photograph newspaper for the first half of June edition, page 30 to 31 reports a regiment in Guangzhou equipping J-10.
Here is the photo of it, should be the 5th regiment.

Pretty intrusting. The picture has a message to it as well :)

It is said that photo was about a kid with the model he made. He won the national model competition with that model. His father is a fighter designer.

I have a question here, may be for expert. Lets assumed that when J-10 had been upgraded with a more powerful engine, could be WS10a or whatever when it has the capability to carry more missiles, how difficult as for Chinese standard is to modify/strengthen its wings so it can carry another pair of PL-8 on its wing tips. That way apart from carrying three external fuel tanks on its belly and innermost pylons, it can now carry 4 PL12 and 2 PL8, greatly impoving its A2A role. Any benefits for this upgrade and will it be an option in the future?

Again let say China is planning to strengthen J10's wing for carrier borne aircaft, therefore it woudnt be a double job.

Anyone?

I never thought it was an issue with the strength of the airframe, but rather a doctrine kind of thing. Thinking about the opponents they are likely to face, it probably would be a great success if a J-10 manages to fire off all of its missiles and just shoots one enemy fighter down.
