New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) in China

I'm seeing a lot of this for some reason. There's a number of YouTube channels known for talking about American cars and interests posting videos of them visiting China all around the same time talking about Chinese EVs. I wonder what's going on. They're not being sold in the US and that's why they haven't talked about them... until now. These guys here sounds like are just looking for parts to make custom cars for their own hybrids they're making. Don't they still get charged the tariff?

Some of it is algorithmic bias. Outside the US nobody has a problem Chinese NEVs anymore than other car brands or consumer goods. China's NEV industry is highly innovative which is interesting in and of itself. YouTube is so massive non-american viewers are going to push up videos about Chinese NEVs, and the algorithm will recommend videos on this category that it thinks you, yourself, would enjoy the most.

The truck guy in the video is Chace Barber, founder and owner of Edison Motors. He's trying (and succeeding) to create a diesel-electric tractor truck. I've been following there YouTube channel for a little while, and he's shown increasing admiration for the Chinese automotive innovation, while his opinion on US/NA auto companies has steadily soured from their elitism and empty talk.

It's something long predicted, just formalized now.

There is a key sentence that was not previously considered before
GM and SAIC will discuss possible capacity cuts as part of a strategic redirection for American nameplates sold in China.

I get a sense that GM simply wants to rebadge future SAIC cars as Buicks similar to what Audi is doing. Chevy might be rebadge of Wuling cars. This will cut development costs for GM China, save production costs for SAIC, would fit their strategy neatly.

China is building a lot of public EV chargers.

The just launched 2025 Zeekr 007 has one of the world's fastest charging batteries. It's 2 generation Golden battery, which has LFP chemistry, have a 5.5C charging time. It means that it can be charged from 10-80% in about 60/5.5, or less than 11 minutes. It is also very safe, and can endure 1000 degree Celsius briefly.
