They can sell fuel injectors to Russia. The Russians don't have enough of their own production of fuel injection systems. There is like one manufacturer and they have very limited supply. And the Russians won't stop burning oil anytime soon.

already selling to Russia and many other places. The precision hole inside the injector is very difficult to drill. This company uses femtosecond laser to drill these holes, the same tech as turbine blade holes drilling

Here is why China's NEV penetration rate exceeded 50% in July, according to BloombergNEF:

According to SNE Research, a South Korean renewable energy market research firm, among NEV makers, the global sales of Geely and Changan both grew more than 50% in H1 2024, albeit from a much lower base than BYD. It seems only Chinese NEV makers had increased global market share in H1 2024, while Tesla had one of the steepest drop in the same period.

SAIC is also setting up shop in Mexico.

BYD's 2025 battery EV Seal is based on e-platform 3.0 and has a 800-V architecture. It has Lidar as an option and starts at about $24,500, which undercuts Tesla Model 3 by about $10,000.

Now we find out that fangchengbao bao8 will be using huawei ADS 3.0. This has been rumored for a few weeks now.
If true, not kind of news I am expecting from BYD.

AFAIK:
BYD announced in 2023 that it will extend its use of the NVIDIA DRIVE Orin™ centralized compute platform in a broader range of its NEVs.
BYD partnered with iFlyTek in 2022 to improve smart car features.
Uber announced a partnership with BYD to use BYD cars to develop 'autonomous-capable vehicles' for its ride-hailing platform in 2024.

So it is said that BYD hired around 8000 engineers on smart/autonomous/intelligent driving.

I don't see anything wrong in adopting ADS 3.0 as reference example against in-house development. What it signals to me is that BYD is still way behind ADS 3.0, at least in their perception.

I dived into available info on ADS 3.0. At this moment, from my technical knowledge base, it is likely that there will be no peer competitor until FSD actually runs on Chinese roads, in the next 6 ~ 18 months.

P.S. this is from Grok for "how is Huawei ADS 3.0 compared against Tesla FSD?":

Huawei's ADS 3.0 and Tesla's FSD are both advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) that aim to provide autonomous driving capabilities. Here's a comparison between the two based on the information provided: **Features and Capabilities:** * Huawei's ADS 3.0 is described as a "human-like" driving system, which suggests it may have more advanced decision-making and response capabilities compared to Tesla's FSD. * Both systems are capable of Level 5 autonomous driving, but Tesla's FSD is primarily a vision-based solution, while Huawei's ADS 3.0 likely uses a combination of vision, lidar, and radar sensors for a more comprehensive perception system. **Performance:** * Huawei's ADS 3.0 is reported to have a lower error rate and higher safety net capabilities compared to Tesla's FSD. This suggests that Huawei's system may be more reliable and effective in preventing accidents and responding to potential hazards. * Huawei's ADS 3.0 is said to have upgraded AEB (Automatic Emergency Braking) abilities, which may result in faster and more accurate emergency braking compared to Tesla's FSD. **User Experience:** * The user experience for both systems is not directly compared in the provided information. However, Huawei's ADS 3.0 is said to be more "human-like," which may result in a more natural and intuitive driving experience compared to Tesla's FSD. **Overall:** * Huawei's ADS 3.0 appears to be a more advanced and comprehensive ADAS system compared to Tesla's FSD, with a lower error rate, higher safety net capabilities, and more advanced decision-making capabilities. However, more direct comparisons and real-world testing would be needed to make a definitive conclusion.

Byd is using solutions from multiple Adas providers. N7 uses the one from its jv with momenta. But it also has models using DJI, itself and now huawei. Similarly, it uses chips from Nvidia, horizon robotics, black sesame and itself.

the core system and integration into OS are done by BYD. Think about ADAS as just another supplier. Byd on boards many different suppliers for other subsystems so why not ADAS?

again, the gap between different Chinese Adas suppliers are in months, not in years.

also, FSD is really far from the golden standard. And let’s not talk about it as such.

electric vehicle brand, has filed for bankruptcy in China.

The move, made official by the Yancheng’s Economic and Technological Development Zone court on Thursday, officially ends the seven-year-old company’s desperate bid to attract investment required to restart production of the HiPhi X, Z and Y.
