New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) in China

This is why all US made cars need to be removed from the Chinese market.
I don't think that will happen. Chinese leaders want to show China is open for business amd foreign investment irrespective of country of origin. So that won't change. Afterall, removing/banning US companies outright might send a bad signal to other foreign investors as western media will fan the flames by trying to portray China as targeting Foreign companies/protectionism to discourage investment in China. I think CCP is aware of this. Reason they have never taken any drastic measures against the US despite US government taking so many measures against Chinese companies and blocking or sanctioning China countless times. I think China doesn't want to make things worse at the moment. So cool heads still prevail. Afterall Chinese leaders are not emotional ones like Iran, North Korea or even Russia. They think long term and rationally.
Afterall, Chinese auto companies are gaining market share each year in China already. Plus every country protects their auto industry to some extent..especially advanced countries since its constitutes a huge percentage of countries industry and GDP. So Chinese companies would have to set up factories and investment in those countries to manufacture their cars locally instead of exporting from China. So I see nothing wrong there. Western Korean and Japanese auto companies have been doing that for decades. China will and should do the same.

Europe is rather schizophrenic about China's EVs. On one hand, some of the European regimes are planning to impose higher tariff, on the other hand, some European automakers want more cooperation with China.

European nations compete for Chinese EV factories, jobs even as EU weighs tariffs

  • As EU probes China auto subsidies, European nations offer their own incentives to land factories
  • China EV giants BYD, Chery consider second plants in Europe
  • State-owned SAIC has location shortlist for two plants in the region

The Denza flagship SUV is expected to have a similar powertrain as the Europe-bound Denza Z9 GT (images below).

The EU is a collection of states each with their own interests; schizophrenia is both normal and expected. Even disregarding that, there is nothing schizophrenic about simultaneously raising tariffs and soliciting investment. It's a proven strategy used by many nations, including China, who want to incentivize domestic production instead of foreign imports.

So EU has confirmed 25% additional tariffs on Chinese EVs for a total of 35%

How do you guys view this? Is it lower or higher than you expected?
