Looks like JD and BYD have signed an agreement to cooperate with each other. JD Logistics will help BYD with warehousing, inventory management, distribution network. Also talks about helping with oversea expansion.

JD Auto will help service BYD passenger vehicle users

Also looks like JD might might BYD commercial vehicles. So pretty profound cooperation

Not a problem those EV cars made in Mexico will simply go south.

American ban on Chinese EV cars might help to shield their automakers from competition in the short run but in the long run their automakers will fall further behind on EV technology as these bans will slowdown the adaptation of EV cars in America. And they will see their overseas market for their automakers shrink as they cant keep up with the new technology and consumer preferences.

It will be very similar to how the Jones Act slowly destroyed the American shipbuilding industry. The Jones Act required all cargo shipped between US ports to be carried by ships built in America, fully crewed by Americans, and owned by American firms. Not only was the Jones Act bad for the US shipbuilding industry, it also broadly damaged overall US competitiveness.

The US is blessed with the geographic advantage of having long coast lines (Atlantic, Pacific and Gulf of Mexico coasts) as well as amble navigable internal waterways (Mississippi river, Great Lakes). Before the Jones Act, US industry enjoyed the advantage of having cheap and easy logistics through shipping by sea. Yet today, it is far cheaper to move goods between cities on the US East Coast using trucks travelling on the notoriously congested highway I-95 than shipping by sea.

I don't think EV will be popular in the global south when they don't even produce enough electricity to power their homes.

But I have seen numbers that Chinese ICE vehicles are gaining massive market share in the global south. Brands like Haval, Chery and MG are the real star of Chinese car industry. They are making rapid gains in many countries including western countries like Australia.

People ignore Chinese ICE vehicles when they are the real big deal in my view. ICE vehicles will be popular for a long time. Chinese car companies will eventually take market share away from western and japanese brands. That makes me wonder if Chinese ICE vehicles will ever enter US market, and if it does, what will be the reaction of the US. Will they allow it, or will they create more barriers.

have you listened to his videos? He is actually in favor of BYD building plants in America to serve American market. And he wants to abolish IRA. That is a huge improvement vs Biden position

btw, JD Auto just announced a 500 million RMB trade-in rebate program after this deal. This I think should give jolt to BYD sales on JD auto platform

DJI auto with a pretty good look at their ADAS program. I believe they are helping BYD with the lidar-less ADAS program
