good post here just to show how many chinese automakers have suddenly become dependent on Russia

Chery made 50B RMB in Russia, Geely 23.9B, Haval 21.7B, ChangAn 10B

Mercedes boss (and fellow Swede) is now publicly going on the offensive.

Demagogues will use the fact that Chinese state-owned companies own nearly 20% of Mercedes as an argument against him, but I don't think he is alone in his skepticism. Porsche has also been vocal against tariffs. There seems to be a split between French firms (who have negligent presence in China) and German ones. Generally speaking, when Germany and France are at loggerheads, typically Germany have their way in the EU. But it's too early to celebrate.

There is tremendous pressure from the US too for the EU to go onto some kind of economic war with China. I repeat what I've said before: protectionism rarely works in the long run. It would only subsidise inferior companies and this is the path the US is taking. I hope the EU doesn't follow suit.
China should just toss France a bone and subsidise Renault to give them 2% market share or something

Renault global sales would pretty much double lol

it looks like there's some growing pains with China's EV rollout, a quote later in the article,

"the proportion of electric car owners in third- and fourth-tier cities who regret their purchase stands at a striking 54%, compared with only 10% in first- and second-tier cities. The dissatisfaction among owners in smaller cities stems from inconvenient charging infrastructure"

Is there any info on charging infrastructure projects and the pace of rollout in these third- and fourth- tier cities? It seems like it's pretty make-or-break for the industry in these localities. I'm imagining it could also effect the EV transition in countries which Chinese firms are exporting to if there is inadequate charging infrastructure in those countries as well.

After M7, now the Aito M9 is launched in Cambodia. When asked, I was quoted with an approximated price of 140+K USD.

In NZ there are calls for councils to stop funding charging stations. People have been talking about poor after sales service on Chinese cars with one claiming it took nearly two months for a rear tail light replaced after he got rear ended.
