Xiaomi's design looks too derivative, too much like Tesla/Porsche

With the focus on aerodynamics, it's difficult to have a very distinct design, but this is too close

Polestar Day, probably the closest most of North Americans will get to Chinese EVs for now

The Polestar 4 will be the first Chinese-origin car exported from Korea to avoid Trump/Biden tarriffs

From the looks of it, Polestar/Volvo will be using more suites of western technology to outfit the cars while Geely/Zeekr will be using Chinese suites, but the platforms will be shared.
XPeng here's earning is terrible. Com'on, negative 6% gross margin. Awful
Rivian is -30+%, so not crazy
Of course XPeng is more mature, so the leeway is less. They really need to get the VW coproduced car out quickly and for it to be a hit.
VW has much more mature sales and service network, plus the increased volume should help this margin issue.

So now 4 of the major tech companies have their own affiliated car brands

Xiaomi: Xiaomi auto
Huawei: Aito (with Seres), Luxeed (with Chery), Avatr (with Changan)
Alibaba: IM Motors (SAIC)
Baidu: Jiyue (with Geely)

Only missing DJI and Tencent

I wonder if there will be a new term for these companies, kind of like how there's a term for the startups Nio, Li, Xpeng (新势力)
How many of these companies/platforms/brands will still exist in 5 years? The tech companies just want to demo their platform, and many of the car companies just have weak domestic branding, so a new brand is fresher (For example SAIC has already discussed the IM cars as potential MG cars in Europe and Australia). Geely already has 23000 brands, so really they don't need more, I would imagine that unless the Jiyue is some kind of insane success, the technology will just be rolled into the existing brands like Zeekr or Lynk

Zeekr-007 looks really good and priced really well too. Totally undercutting HW's 2 sedans and actually have better specs and look good too

XPeng X9 price starting at 388k, seems a little high

The more impressive MPV is Li Auto Mega, but it's also more expensive. It promises a ceiling of 600k. Sure, but that's really expensive. You might as well see if you can get a U8 at that price

Geely backed EcarX details

Seal DM-i putting a lot of hurt on ICE sedans
