BYD apparently uses BOE as a major supplier of all sorts of display products for its cars, including the largest ever flexible OLED in this industry for U8

Leopard-5 deliveries have started. 82 registrations past few days

BYD UTE, what's the status?

Apparently, 15 U8 registrations last week

So now 4 of the major tech companies have their own affiliated car brands

Xiaomi: Xiaomi auto
Huawei: Aito (with Seres), Luxeed (with Chery), Avatr (with Changan)
Alibaba: IM Motors (SAIC)
Baidu: Jiyue (with Geely)

Only missing DJI and Tencent

I wonder if there will be a new term for these companies, kind of like how there's a term for the startups Nio, Li, Xpeng (新势力)

This massive proliferation of electric car brands is kind of ridiculous. I expect there to be massive consolidation sooner rather than later.

The US has three domestic car brands, plus a few more of imported ones. China as an even bigger market should be able to take more than a handful of domestic car brands.

Electric vehicles are still new. It is the time for trying all kinds of crazy ideas and concepts.

If we can accept the new startups popping up everyday in Sillicon Valley, we should not feel bad about the new EV brands in China. Competitions push up innovations and push down cost.
