New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) in China

Does Toyota seem like a company that caters to a niche segment, especially in sports cars? If so, then Toyota is even more stupid than I thought.
This is the craziest part right?
They don't even have a sports car! They used to have all kinds of weird ones like Celica, MR2, Supra, but they were unprofitable and killed.
Now they have the Supra, but it is just a BMW Z4, and not an EV anyway

Maybe they plan on rebadging that BYD Yangwang U9, lol

That's because this useless technology epitomizes the downfall of Japanese manufacturing, from cell phones to automobiles.

I think I just explained its relevance. Your rebuttal wasn't based on the technology itself, your rebuttal was,

"Does Toyota seem like a company that caters to a niche segment, especially in sports cars? If so, then Toyota is even more stupid than I thought."

To be clear, my most recent post clarifies my position further.

"As far as preference. I agree, only a very small minority of users prefer manuals, but that's why I am trying to emphasize that manuals might have relevance for sports cars."

It might not matter to you, but many people are in fact wealthy enough to own a sports car, and this kind of development might convince them to get an EV instead of an ICE vehicle.

Furthermore, the very first Tesla, was in fact the Roadster. I suspect if this technology was in an experimental BYD instead, you'd be a lot more interested, regardless of the merit of the actual technology itself.

My position is this technology is stupid and if it was in BYD it would still be stupid. Not sure why you think I'm BYD fanboy, have you seen me post BYD stuff here?

Regardless this thread is about NEVs in China, not retarded technologies in foreign concept EVs that will never see the light of day.

Not sure if you figured it out yet, but Chinese EV makers are trying to make EVs more high tech, not low tech. The future is about how to make it easier to drive (e.g., self driving), not how to make it more troublesome to drive.

I'm not accusing you of being a BYD fanboy. I'm accusing you of having an anti-Toyota bias, because that's what you're focusing on, rather than the merit of the technology itself.

The future is about what people will buy and there's definitely a market for

Li auto deliveries reach 40k this month. Next goal is 50k with 20k l7. It's quite the juggernaut

Gac aion says battery prices to continue to drop because lithium carbonate prices will drop and ev prices will drop further.

Song l unveiled at higher prices than expected and this is with me really liking it. Expect launch price to be lower

Byd vs Tesla in Q3 by the numbers

The issue is that it has no relevance for sports cars. If there's one thing enthusiasts can agree on hating it's fake sportiness. They hate fake V8 noises in turbo 4/6s, they hate fake rear exhausts on cars with down facing exhausts, they hate fake gear shifts on CVTs, and oh my gosh will they hate a fake clutch on an EV.
