Well, the French wanted it but Germany didn’t, but Germany will get punished regardless. Not really fair since French cars haven’t been competitive in China for decades.
French cars aren’t competitive anywhere.
They crippled Germany's energy supplies, they are now going to cripple their automobile industry. Germany is under attack from all directions
France will also not be spared. If they think they can simply ban Chinese competition without consequences, they are delusional. France has plenty of luxury brands that could easily be retaliated against, with China suffering no cost to itself
This could be a useful leg up for domestic luxury brands
export infrastructure building up for BYD. They expect to decide/announce factory in Europe this year
Not to mention China is buying a lot of Airbus planes.
